How did you get into the industry?

I started my bakery 15+ years ago. My franchise journey 2 years ago. Franchising was the next step for me and I saw the franchise system as a way to scale what I had created.

Where do you See Opportunities or Challenges for the Franchise/Business Moving Forward?

Industry knowledge along with capital to survive is a hard combination to find in a franchisee. Finding the right person is the challenge.

What is your Goal for the Business Moving Forward?

My goals for the year are to mentor and help my franchisees do well. New products are also a driving force for me and the franchise system allows us to be more innovative and creative with what we can offer to the customer.

Talk to us About Training and Support, How Do You Deliver?

I try to stay in contact with my franchises just like I do with my managers. I put out information on a daily basis that helps them stay informed and aware of any pit falls or praises that may arise.  

Your most difficult moment at the Franchise Business?

There are many but the most difficult moments are when folks do not listen to your advise or follow the path you have laid out for them.

How is your Franchise Model Structured?

A. Training and Support Model? 3 Month in house training, 2weeks support at opening, continued support when needed.

B. What is the Fee Structure? $30,000 and 5% of Gross Sales.

C. Territory Definition? We offer large areas so people can grow their business.

D. Day in the life of a Franchisee? A lot of hard work!

What does Your Franchisee Do in the Business Every Day?

The franchisee acts as a General Manager of the business and oversees operations, management and leadership of their own company, it’s fun, but also challenging work.

 

Who is the Ideal Franchise Candidate?

Someone with industry knowledge, capital and not afraid of hard work.

Still playing out, lots of great relationships and so much fun to work with people in helping them build a business within the Pie in the Sky family.

What Goals Do you Have for the Franchise Model in the Future?

I would like to add 6 more locations in the near future while maintaining our core values and quality, we want more people in more markets to be able to experience what Pie in the Sky can deliver!
