How did you get into the industry?

I was first interested in the industry from a participation standpoint, building my way up through the years. I loved not only the physical aspect of the practice, but the mental as well. I eventually wanted to create a space where the whole family can come and hang out together and unite and learn skills together.

Tell us about your franchise model.

We are a mixed martial arts facility that also houses a body transformation and weight loss clinic catering to the entire family. We offer lessons in Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, MMA, Boxing, Fighter Fit Transformation. There are multiple profit levers which include tuition (monthly or weekly), private lessons (personal), proshop retail arm, testing fees, seminars, fight team. etc. We also sell 2KS private label supplements and shakes.

Where do you see opportunities or challenges in the business moving forward?

We have a huge opportunity here. Not only are we martial arts, but we also are martial arts for the family and can bring the entire family together or serve multiple generations within a single-family in multiple ways. We have it all from youth programs to weight loss programs and nutritional coaching.

What are your unique points of training and support?

This is where the rubber hits the road for us: it’s the support system. Our franchisees will go through an extremely detailed training program where they learn the ins and outs of our products, our services, our philosophy and our programs. From there, we will keep supporting our franchise partners and be just a phone call or email away to help with any questions they may have.

Describe a difficult moment in your franchise journey.

Our families rave about us and have been asking us to have more locations to help with convenience. The difficult moment was really just making that decision to finally dive into franchise development. Since then, the franchise development team we’ve worked with has made everything fairly simple and helped us along. We are excited to get our first unit sold!

What does your franchisee do in the business every day?

Ideally, we want our franchisee to be involved in the business every day and present within the studio. This person will need to handle the local reputation of the business, maintain great relationships with the families that attend here, handle basic staff hiring and scheduling, and oversee back office procedures and accounting.

Describe the ideal franchisee.

I want someone firstly who understands what we are trying to accomplish for our members here at 2KS. This is more than just a business — its a way of life and will greatly impact those who utilize our services and our products. This means we need a franchisee who grasps the holistic impact that martial arts bring to life and who knows how to run/manage a business.

Do you have any success stories you would like to share?

From a member’s standpoint, there are too many success stories to share here! The list is extensive! From a franchise standpoint, we are just rolling out the concept so do not have any first-hand franchisee stories to share yet.

What are your goals for your company in the future?

I really want 2KS and our approach to raise the bar in the industry and become a community staple wherever we land. We want to continue to help families by sharing our concept throughout more territories.
